How to Read a Book, 2016

A video performance piece documents myself ripping a book every time I turn the pages. It is a symbolization of how we experience time linearly so that we cannot undo an act once we have commit it. As the audience reads the story, it begins to disappear and transfer into their memories. Obviously, life is not like a book. We cannot skip ahead to find out how it ends and we cannot relive the moments that we liked best. This work is a reminder that the destruction of something can also be the result of progress.
